Mt. Kakuda, Niigata (April 15th)

Hepatica nobilis var. japonica f. magna (Oo-Misumi-sou , aka. Yukiwari-sou).
We happened to find a valley covered with lots of these flowers.

Here is the other bunch of the Hepatica pictures.
Isn't it amazing? Can you believe all these flowers are the same kind of plant?

The purple one with white center.

White one with purple spots.

Purple one with white stamens.

Pale purple with purple stamens.

Pink one and white one.

Pink and white and blue and purple in the same place!

Pink one with white line in the center of each petal.

Lots of kinds of purple colored ones!

Amazing diversity of the purple colors!

This was the most amazing one! It has so bright magenta flowers!

All of these are the same kind of plant, Hepatica nobilis var. japonica f. magna (Oo-Misumi-sou , aka. Yukiwari-sou). It's just amazing!
